A toothache can be really painful and exhausting!
What can it be from?
A toothache can be in fact a gum ache. For example, an inflammation of the gum or a bad filling leading to a food track can cause gum problems and very painful sensations.
To get rid of that kind of problems, the first thing is to brush carefully with a soft tooth brush, and

clean between your teeth daily with some floss. Most of the time, a professional cleaning is necessary. Sometimes, a new filling can also be a good option to avoid food tracks.
A toothache can also be a decay. If you suffer when you drink or eat hot and cold, it’s probably a decay. The best thing to do is to take some pain killer: paracetamol or codeine. Don’t take any anti-inflammatory! The decay creates a reaction into the tooth and the body brings some inflammation to defend the tooth and avoid an infection. If you take some inflammatory like ibuprofen, you will have a chance to get an infection. For a toothache, an anti-inflammatory can be taken only with antibiotics!
A toothache can also be the result of a clinching or grinding reflex at night. It’s very important to be aware of that kind of inconscient reflex that we can do during night. That can lead to tooth fractures, joint aches or toothache. The most important is to talk about it with your dentist!
Finally, there is only one way to avoid toothache: brush carefully twice a day, and consult every year your dentist!
